Naya Nangal, May 11 / NSB NEWS :

Education Minister Mr. Harjot Singh Bains visited the Sub Divisional Hospital to meet the children affected by the suspected gas leak from an industrial unit near St. Soldier Divine Public School at Naya Nangal.

After getting information about the incident, Education Minister and Deputy Commissioner Dr. Preeti Yadav including senior officials   reached at spot from where 2684 students and staff of Saint Soldier School were safely evacuated and sent home.

On this occasion, Civil surgeon Dr. Parminder Kumar said that the children suffering by respiratory problems are undergoing treatment in the hospital and out of danger, all the children have been discharging from the government hospital, so far only 6 children have admitted those will also be discharged soon. One child has been sent to PGI Chandigarh whose condition is completely stable. According to her parents, she was already sick.

He said that when the incident was reported, SMO Nangal Dr. Naresh Kumar and his medical team immediately reached the school along with the ambulance and started examining the children, with which we understood the exact situation well and took the affected students to the hospital on time.

Deputy Commissioner Dr. Preeti Yadav took stock of the medical services and arrangements. She ordered to evacuate all the schools in the area with immediate effect. She personally visited the schools and checked so that the children are sent to homes safely.

On this occasion, Senior Medical Officer Dr. Naresh Kumar informed the parents that all the children admitted to the government hospital are safe. Government hospital has adequate arrangements of ambulances and health facilities which are being directly supervised by Cabinet Minister Harjot Bains personally.

Giving information regarding the incident, SDM Mrs. Manisha Rana said that there is no gas or smell in the area at present and the administration is strictly investigating that what could be the cause of the incident. She said that strict action will be taken against the accused after investigation.

She further said that Punjab Pollution Control Board and district administration teams are present at the spot and the matter is being seriously investigated on every aspect so that the exact cause of the incident can be find out.

District administration has appealed to the general public not to believe any rumor and no case has come to light after the incident in the area.

On this occasion, senior officials including SSP Mr. Vivek S Soni, SDM Manisha Rana, DSP Aj
ay Singh were present.
