-Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Virendra Kanwar has thanked the Central Govt. for announcing additional budget of Rs.40,000crore under MNREGA. He expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Minister of State for Finance Anurag Thakur.
The Rural Development Minister said that earlier the budget allocation under MNREGA was at Rs.60,000 crore and with this additional announcement of Rs.40,000 crore, the total budget now touched a mark of Rs. one lakh crore. This step of the Central Govt. will directly help the labour class. This will help in providing employment to people who have returned or are returning to their homes due to Covid-19. This will help in speeding rural economy.
Kanwar told that recently the rate of daily wage had been enhanced to Rs.202/- from Rs.182/-. This will help at least five crore people coming under MNREGA. “Himachal Pradesh has been benefitted from the steps taken under dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur”, he added.
