Govt. all committed to provide relief to the poor: RD Minister

The State Govt. is all committed to provide relief to the poor in present scenario due to countrywide lockdown in the State. The State Govt. under Chief Minister Jairam Thakur will provide subsidized ration to 3 lakh poor families. These families will be provided flour at a rate of Rs. 3.30/- per kg and rice at Rs.2/- per kg.
In a press statement issued today here at Una Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Virender Kanwar said that the opposition was misleading the public by giving wrong facts. The State Govt. will not provide ration to income tax payers of the State for a period of one year, whereas the subsidy has been cut by 50 per cent to families under APL category. The step has been taken to provide maximum relief to the poor during this crisis due to Covid-19.
He said that the Govt. of India was also taking steps to provide relief to all affected sections in the country. A financial package of Rs.20 lakh crore has been announced so that all people may get maximum benefit. This comes to around 10 per cent of total gross domestic product. He told that last month the Central Govt. announced a package of Rs.1.74 lakh crore to the poor to benefit them, which included cash transfer, an insurance cover of Rs.50 lakh and steps taken to ensure food security.
