With a view to breaking the chain of COVID infection especially in the micro containment zones, Deputy Commissioner Apneet Riyait on Tuesday sought peoples’ cooperation in getting  themselves tested in said zones as the 100 percent population of these zones would have to undergo corona tests.

While declaring village Ransota in Tehsil Mukerian as Micro Containment Zones (MCZ), the Deputy Commissioner urged the residents of these zones to get themselves tested as soon as possible, which would surely lead to early detection and early recovery in positive cases, if any. She said that within three days sampling of all residents of MCZs would be carried out. She pointed out that there were five MCZs in district including Nangal Road, near Deep Colony, Ward No 6, Garhshankar, Ward No. 4, Mohalla Jaurean and Ward No 11 Mohalla Rainkan of Garhshankar, Mohalla Guru Gobind Singh Nagar, Gali No 1 to 7, ward no 27, Hoshiarpur and Ransota, Mand Mander Tehsil Mukerian.

Issuing an appeal, the Deputy Commissioner said that people should not hesitate or get panicked about giving samples for COVID test as early testing and early treatment would go a long way in preventing the further spread of virus. She said that strict enforcement of Government and Health Department’s guidelines was call of the day and people should extend all possible support and cooperation to health teams for collection of samples. She apprised that the health teams either would visit each and every house in the Micro Containment Zones (MCZ) or identify a common place to take samples and contact tracing to keep the COVID at bay.

Stating that state-of-the-art healthcare facilities are with the Government Hospitals as well as medical infrastructure to tackle any exigency amid surge in COVID cases, Apneet Riyait appealed to the people to get themselves tested early as there was  adequate testing facilities available with the health teams.

Pertinently, only medical emergency and essential services will be allowed in the said MCZs, where health teams carry intensive diie-to-door surveillance and contact tracing besides shifting all the positive cases to health facilities as per the health protocol with a special focus on vulnerable and high risk population.

Notably, the containment period will be of minimum 14 days and if during last one week not more than one new case is reported, the MCZ will be opened, otherwise the restrictions will continue for one week at a time.
