74 th Independence day was celebrated at STC BSF KHARKAN with festive enthusiasm and gaiety.
The celebrations were heralded by 10 km walk which was flagged off at 0530 hrs by Sh Sanjeev Bhanot, IG BSF , STC Kharkan.
217 personnel including Officers and Mahila staff participated in the event conducted on Hoshiarpur- Una road. The event served to imbibe patriotism and convey the message of unity and brotherhood among locals on this auspicious day.
The walk was followed by hoisting of the National Flag in STC campus where Tricolour was unfurled and guard of honour presented the Rashtriya Salute. Speaking on the occasion , Sh Sanjeev Bhanot, IG BSF greeted the assembled troops and exhorted them to work for the Nation with examplary dedication in keeping with the Motto of BSF ” Jeevan Prayant Kartavya” . Inspector General presented sweets to the guard n assembled troops.
A plantation drive was also organised in the campus to mark the occasion in which 100 plants were planted by BSF personnel.
Badakhana has been organised for all the troops as per the Force tradition.
Dinner with 50 select personnel ,who have performed well in various fields is being organised in the evening which will be attended by the Inspector General and all Officers.
Elaborate arrangements were undertaken to ensure meticulous implementation of Covid 19 protocol as per existing guidelines.
